Buddhism, writing, printing and the general Chinese culture spread to Korea and Japan, where \u201cwashi\u201d was developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This seemingly fragile paper has exceptional durability. Once combined and woven with yarn, \u201cwashi\u201d becomes extremely strong and softens more and more, becoming even more comfortable; its transformation results in a material that is both durable, breathable, and very agreeable to wear,although it is not much used as a textile. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To create \u201cwashi\u201d textile fibers, the hemp pulp is first pressed and then made into very fine paper. It is then cut into thin strips and transformed into threads. It can then be combined, as is the case here, with materials such as cotton or linen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cwashi\u201d has the properties of being extremely light and allowing air to pass naturally, giving the final fabric a very pleasant airy appearance.
